Ombre hair made a statement last season, with stars such as Alexa Chung and Drew Barrymore showcasing the ‘grown out roots’ look.
A few months on and the trend is still going strong – Elle Macpherson was recently papped whilst out with her (also suspiciously dip-dyed) son, sporting brown/blonde tresses. So for those of you who have decided to grow out a peroxide ‘do, then this hair fashion looks set to work in your favour as we ascend from Spring to Summer!
Perfect for the summer months, dip-dyed hair oozes that boho vibe of effortless chic. Forget block colour that looks too ‘done’, ombre hair is where it’s at with offerings of sunkissed hair without having to venture to warmer climes.
Dependant on your skin tone and natural hair colour, two-toned locks can be tailored to just about anyone; blonder ends a la Lauren Conrad can be pulled off with a tan, whilst the more demure and darker tones of Rachel Bilson will suit paler complexions.
Whilst this is a risky DIY job, it can be done. Style blogger LLYMLRS, tried just that and her results were nothing far from A-list status. However, if you want to spare yourself the worry of a potentially disastrous dye job, then book an appointment at your hairdressers, where stylists will be able to offer you a free consultation in order to discuss your requirements and assess your dip-dye needs.
