A very berry Christmas – this season’s pout

The Saturdays' Vanessa White rocks the vamp look with berry lips

With the festive season in full swing, key make-up looks are plaguing our thoughts more often than not. Get ready to pucker up under the mistletoe this Christmas with a very apt berry-coloured pout.

Alexa Chung and Taylor Swift are just two of the celebrities to embrace the dark side by making a statement with bold lip colours. By keeping the rest of your pallette neutral and your hairstyle simple, your lips can be left to do all the talking quite literally! So take the plunge this December with a berry grin.

Do not be put off by this quite drastic look however, as there’s a shade to complement every skin-tone. Paler complexions offer the perfect canvas to enhance a plum-infused kisser, whereas darker tones can play host to brave, yet bold, black lips.

Redder hues, to suit anyone and everyone, can be achieved with MAC’s moisturising Extended Play Longwear Lipcreme or Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Lipstick in Temptation.

Just think gothic glam when attempting the look with whatever colour and you can’t go far wrong.

Most make-up ranges have updated their collections to accomodate the trend so you won’t be left wondering which beauty counter to try – just visit your favourite!

For perfect pre-product application lips, lightly scour with a toothbrush to remove dry skin and coat with some intensive moisturising lipbalm (Carmex is ideal). Prime with MAC’s colourless lip primer, or similar, and begin to draw around your mouth’s natural outline with a coloured lip-pencil (this prevents any lip-colour from bleeding into the surrounding area). Apply the main lip colour, blot off the excess with tissue-paper and your berry pout is good to go!

Have you experimented with berry lip-colour? Post your comments above!

I’m keen on consumers that write blogs, it’s really hard to gather all forms of comprehension almost any way. Terrific work.
